Our travels this year took us to ancient sites in Peru and Bolivia!\u00a0An amazing journey!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We visited the Paracas History Museum and inspected dozens of elongated skulls and other from the Paracas, Nazca, Wari, Cincha, and Inca cultures.\u00a0I swear some\u00a0of those skulls looked alien to me.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We flew over the Nazca Lines\u00a0in a small 12 seater plane\u00a0and\u00a0inspected\u00a0the mysterious\u00a0ancient geoglyphs in the Nazca Desert in southern\u00a0Peru.\u00a0We had a bird’s eye view\u00a0of hundreds of figures,\u00a0<\/b>made of straight lines and geometric shapes etched in the surface of the desert pampa sand.\u00a0Most clearly visible from the air,\u00a0our pilot did wing dips, side-to-side, so we could have the best\u00a0possible\u00a0views\u00a0and click some super snapshots. We did..\u00a0The\u00a0best-known\u00a0geoglyph\u00a0is \u201cThe Astronaut\u201d at 32m in length discovered by Maria Reiche in the 1960s.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We travelled by boat\u00a0to see the uninhabited Ballestas Islands.\u00a0Rich in marine life, the islands are home to sea lions, pelicans, Peruvian boobies and Humboldt penguins. On the way\u00a0our boat captain detoured to give us a closer look at a huge geoglyph in the form of a candelabra that sailors in ancient times used as a coastal reference point.\u00a0The Candelabro, almost 500 feet high, is a bit of a mystery. Theories abound about who created the figure and why.\u00a0I\u00a0was satisfied\u00a0with\u00a0the most scientific sounding explanation \u2014 aliens.
\nOn July 12<\/span><\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span><\/sup><\/span>, we flew from Lima (sea level) to\u00a0Cusco (<\/span><\/span><\/span>Elevation<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>:<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a011,152′) When the doors of the plane opened, I felt as if life\u00a0got\u00a0sucked out of me. Most others on the tour also experienced high altitude shock\u00a0in one form or another.\u00a0Unfortunately\u00a0my vision became impaired.\u00a0Fortunately, with time, it is slowly improving.\u00a0According to my ophthalmologist, I have a macular pucker in my left eye. Bet the aliens didn’t have that problem.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And the highlight of 2016 for me was climbing to the top of Machu Picchu, Peru.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
